Russia, Trump, Afghanistan... Oh My!

The era of global retreat...

Russia's Putin: Taliban must be taken into account at Afghan peace talks

Who asked these guys to do anything...?

Trump says Afghanistan talks 'proceeding well'

On Monday, U.S. special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad told the New York Times that the United States and the insurgent group had sketched the outlines of an eventual peace deal.
Oh... weird...

Foreign troops to quit Afghanistan in 18 months under draft deal: Taliban sources

Okay Putin I see what you're doing...

Apparently McConnell does too... moves to block withdrawal.

Serious question for Administration backers.... when did global retreat become the Policy?

Our inability and/or complete unwillingness to react to the Russian "coming out party" could well end up being our biggest failure of the young century... and we've already had some pretty fantastical blunders.

Everybody loves a party but Pres. Trump.

We need international mandate before we head in there...

Our track record among Latin American countries isn't the best on the block. So far we haven't really done anything wrong but we need to be leaning on the OAS and/or UN to formulate a mandate for international involvement... humanitarian at first obviously.

Luckily this Administration is great a playing nice with allies and international bodies.

We don't need anybody's permission but American adventurism in the Western Hemisphere has been... um... problematic in years past.

Going in with coalitions lends some credibility to what you are doing.

What Venezuela?

We'll be involved in some capacity at this point no matter what happens.

I think Venezuela has its own thread though... we can go back to Trump letting Putin take the helm of world affairs. ;)
