What Democrats Have Become - WSJ OpEd

Sums my thoughts up on this whole thing quite nicely...thought I'd share...

Brett Kavanaugh is a casualty of an anything-goes political resistance.

Let us posit that the one thing not at issue here is the truth. As a matter of law and fact, Ms. Ford’s accusation can be neither proved nor disproved. This is as obvious now as it must have been when Dianne Feinstein and the other Democrats came into possession of this incident.

Surely someone pointed out that based on what was disclosed, this accusation could not be substantiated. To which the Democrats responded: So what? Its political value is that it cannot be disproved. They saw that six weeks before a crucial midterm election, the unresolvable case of Christine Blasey Ford would sit like a stalled hurricane over the entire Republican Party, drowning its candidates in a force they could not stop.

In #MeToo, which began in the predations of Harvey Weinstein, Democrats and progressives finally have found a weapon against which there seems to be no defense. It can be used to exterminate political enemies. If one unprovable accusation doesn’t suffice, why not produce a second, or third? It’s a limitless standard.

The Democrats’ broader strategy is: Delay the vote past the election; win the Senate by convincing suburban women that Republicans are implacably hostile to them; seize power; and—the point of it all—take down the Trump government.

This is the “resistance.” This is what Democrats have become. Resistance is a word and strategy normally found in a revolutionary context, which is precisely the argument made by the left to justify its actions against this presidency since the evening of Nov. 8, 2016. Anything goes. Whatever it takes. Brett Kavanaugh is not much more than a casualty of war.

Exactly what we deal with everyday. Not an Opposition Party but an enemy.

And the pure insanity to this entire fiasco is that many brain-dead people who are addicted to their sick political ideology will think precisely the way the writer of the piece essentially put it -- "can't prove he's not guilty", as though jurisprudence somehow requires us to presume guilt until the accused can prove otherwise. This is not only demented thinking, but it is dangerous to its very core because this kind of irrational thinking threatens to destroy tear the fabric to our constitutional republic.

You guys really gave me a good belly laugh with this one.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

The poor Repugs.
They have done their level best to play fair, never putting Party before Country, and just look at the way the Dims are treating them.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

It's ... it's ... it's downright unconscionable!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: :lol:

After leaving a seat on the Supreme Court open for 422 days - yes, a year and 57 days.
After refusing to even meet with Obama appointee Merrick Garland for eight entire months before the November election,
Senate Repugs are deeply hurt by the uncooperative spirit of the Dims.

:pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound:

"Not an Opposition Party but an enemy."

The Repugs would never do something like that!
Good Gracious, No!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: :lol:

Let's go back to November 2008.
Here’s John Boehner, Republican House Leader, at the time, offering his plans for Obama’s agenda:
“We're going to do everything — and I mean everything we can do — to kill it, stop it, slow it down, whatever we can.”

And who can forget Senator Mitch McConnell's stirring words?
“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

Yet we read a 2018 op-ed in the WSJ like this.

"This is the “resistance.” This is what Democrats have become. Resistance is a word and strategy normally found in a revolutionary context, which is precisely the argument made by the left to justify its actions against this presidency since the evening of Nov. 8, 2016. Anything goes. Whatever it takes. Brett Kavanaugh is not much more than a casualty of war."

Poor Brett!
Tell it to Merrick Garland.

Republicans don't NEED cooperation from Dems...so they're not crying about that. Bad point.

This from Burls, who has standards so low that nothing more than I am sorry from Louie CK is enough for him go sit around and laugh with known, admitted, and RECENT woman predator.

No problem the apology was not accepted by the victims.
Puts his little tirade in perspective.

The women never really matter to the left.
Never.

Consider the source. :lol::lol::lol:

Would you let your daughter alone around these guys?
Uncle Billy's babysitting?

It's a good thing you're here to point all of this out, Tom.

I won't stoop to argue about who loves women more, or men for that matter.

See how easy that was?

Burls

Tell me how many disruptions were encountered in tha Kagan and Sotomayor hearings.

Now tell me how many arrests were made in those hearings.

Voted in with 63 & 68 votes respectively, in a time of filibuster.

70 disruptions and 63 arrests in the Kavanaugh hearing.

So, tell me again about "Repug" resistance.

Thanks for playing.

How many disruptions were there in the Merrick Garland hearing?
Oh yeah, none, because there wasn't one.

Then there's the shameless gerrymandering by the Repugs.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...oward-the-gop/

The Congressional Map Has A Record-Setting Bias Against Democrats
And it’s not just 2018.

So don't talk to me about what good sports the Repugs have been.
By their actions, the Repugs have forfeited any right to criticize the actions of the Dims.

woodtoo 09-23-2018 08:26 AM

Garland is so yesterday. I've forgotten him .

Oh yes they can and do. And have the behemoth Enemedia to show the way.

Tom 09-23-2018 09:56 AM

Well, Burls uses a know woman abuser as an avatar - FAR worse the Confederate flag, IMHO.

But he does prove our point about how the left has zero respect for women and just use them.

Thanks Burls.....honesty is always appreciated.
