Rock Steady Baby

Aretha was an occasional visitor to OTB I worked at in Chicago Loop in the 90s.
She'd come in and have dinner, relax, and play a few races. Nice lady.
American vocal treasure.

WHERE...at State and Lake next to the Chicago theater? I used to go there all the time in the 90s.

I worked both there and at the Jackson/Franklin branch near Sears Tower.
Worked in mutuels - was there for just a year 92-93. Lived in Evanston.

Sad news. She is a real real legend.

My favorite.

The poor lady is at the end of her battle with cancer, when starting the thread I thought it might be more interesting to tribute a recording artist with some of her songs from you tube.

Died earlier this morning at her home in Detroit surrounded by friends and family. RIP. The loss of a legendary talent. "Don't you don't get riled sugar me"

bobbyb 08-16-2018 11:20 AM

Rest in Peace Aretha
