I've had a couple of placings (be it win or under exotics) nailed in deep stretch, where the rider has eased up.
Always tough to tell if the horse is completely empty and no amount of urging would help. Always like to see the horse 'taken care of' after they've given their all... But some of these have been heartbreakers! Tough to tell, but I don't like when it happens to me
