You know what this kind of stuff reminds me of? The Legion of Decency run by the Catholic Church. The movies that were not acceptable to the Catholic church were posted at the back of the churches.
One theater decided to show
Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. They should have been afraid of the Catholic church. At all the churches, we were told to boycott the theater.
So my mother decides we're going to go to THAT theater to see
101 Dalmations. I tell her we can't because we've been banned from going to that theater. My mother said, get dressed, we're going. And we did. Of course, I went to confession and told the priest. My mother cost me a few extra Our Fathers and Hail Mary's. Ultimately the theater closed.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
