Theaters usually get nothing on the tickets. Hollywood gets all the box office. The theater makes its money on concessions, including booze, if any. One theater in Columbus, Ohio removed half its seats, put in tables, and sells complete meals brought to your seats.
Once a movie is past its initial run (something like a month) the theater gets part of the ticket sales, assuming the distributor still wants the film exhibited.
