The jobs don't vanish, they are shifted to Seattle suburbs as business start-ups in the city slow down and new business growth increases outside city limits. Some hard-hit businesses simply relocate.
This same effect happened recently when Seattle imposed a special sales tax on firearms and ammo. The city will not release revenue data from the tax. Sales in Seattle gun stores dropped, employees were laid off, and at least one dealer closed shop and moved to the suburbs.
