5 lengths?
Taulbot said don't use any horse btn over 5 lengths in paceline you're using.
Is that what you're doing and how do you determine what paceline to use?
I used to use the pace calc slide rule at Ellis park way back...
Have a copy of an old ver of his software on 3.5 disk but can't get it on to my computer. Taulbot was a trailblazer.

Doc & Taulbot
Doc Sartin in a couple of articles in ATM said bet your top 2 selections using the pace calc. Wonder how you would have fared doing that?

5 lengths is too restrictive. What about the horse that lost by 5-1/4, they get kicked out. I look at the best of the last 3 qualifying races from which to pick the paceline, which doesn't necessarily mean the very last 3 races. Each classification of races (mdn, clm, alw, stk, gr stk) will determine how far I go back. And yes, I agree 100%, Taulbot was a trailblazer and far, far ahead of his time.

Actually he said: "I have no right to tell you how to bet. Suggesting that you focus on overlays or that you bet TWO horses to win would make me seem like a Missionary cutting down Totem Poles and putting up crosses or vice versa. Mathematically, however, FIRST choices, be they from the Pace Calculator or any other procedure, DO NOT win as often as one might expect; nor do they usually pay well enough to produce consistent profit."
For me, there has to be value, or no bet. Which may be in the top two or elsewhere.

So how many lengths do you use? 6, or?.
Anyway congrats on posting these. Very interesting and informative.
