Improbable
For those who believe this game is ruled by trainers-Jockeys and /or speed or pace figures , think about the hazards thanks can occur at the gate ,minutes or seconds before the the race starts.
All of the work in getting a horse ready for a race, which includes
trainer, vet(s), transportation and entry fees impact not only the owner, but the
horse and general public wagering on horses and placing various exotic bets
Watching the debacle at the gate seconds before the gate opened for the
PA Derby was a drama, both to the horse, jockey(s) and gate crew.
Hopefully, Improbable will prove his abilities in the near future.

I thought Improbable ran well despite the bad break. But he's always broken a bit slower, so I wonder if gate issues are just part of the deal in betting him.

The issue with that he has never won a race when passing horses in the stretch. Not a good deal if you break poorly.

That one is a close call, he was right with the leaders as they entered the stretch.

I was at Parx and from the minute Improbable walked into paddock he looked dull. Just saying.
And he ran dull the entire race, he seemed to be jogging along in an open gallop and not running a bit.
The bad start is a legit excuse but I don't think it really mattered at all with Improbable.

think you are right. Mike Smith said if he would have just run he would have won, even w/the bad break

Yea I am talking about being 3-4 lengths behind, against like class foes, that he faced this year. Trips like had in most of his races this year.

He ran way too bad to blame it on the break.

Very odd. I have seen a lot of baffert horses up close and personal, and they never look "dull". Feed change?
Combine this with announcement that both Game Winner and Marley's Freedom, who were both pointed to the BC, are being turned out for rest of the year.
strange.

Both of those horses have had issues for months...a more useful insinuation would be if say McKinzie suddenly was turned out.

I wonder if he's using the same vet as before?

As a three year old he's not shown the "alpha" quality he did last year and he does not seem to "want to win."

Aptly named horse.
Unlikely he will ever show anything of any substance.
He looks more like a spectator than a participant in his races lately.
I would not be surprises to see his rider carrying a travel mug instead of a whip next race!
