David Janssen as Dr. Richard Kimble....I'll never forget after the final episode of The Fugitive, David appearing that night on Johnny Carson to a huge standing ovation.

The powers that be could not sell re-runs because the mystery was solved. Other shows that moved toward a similar final explanatory episode NEVER aired the explanation knowing that devalued their worth as re-runs.

I’m as old as anyone here and older than most. In my opinion, those 50s and 60s shows don’t hold a candle to what we have now; both in the comedy and drama category. Not that they aren’t entertaining to watch occasionally.

I couldn't agree with you more ...although there are one or two exceptions.
For some reason, I still find the Honeymooners original episodes to be HILARIOUS...even though I have seen them all many times.

I am sure by the Nelsons he means The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet. The end of Ricky Nelson's life was pretty sad. He got fleeced in a divorce and there was not a gig he would turn down, just before he went on the fatal tour he was playing at a motel lounge in San Bernardino Ca, of all places, it was probably 2 or 3 stars. I knew because I drove by the marquee on the way home. Here is a guy that during his heyday had more hits than Elvis toiling away as a lounge singer.

Classic cartoon in Playboy many years ago.
Two Astronauts land on the Moon. As they descend the ladder of the Lunar Lander, they spot a woman in a house dress lying on the surface. One of the Astronauts says to the other,
“My God, it’s Alice Kramden.”

I very often laugh out loud when some youngster quotes the BEST movies of all time and leaves out Citizen Kane, To Kill A Mockingbird, Casablanca, On the Waterfront etc.
Friends in the business always add The Battleship Potemkin and Friz Lange's best:Metropolis with Mr Smith Goes to Washington a very strong honorable mention.

I saw Carroll Burnett on the top 100 list, I personally thought all those 60's and 70's variety shows were terrible. The musicals guests were good, that was it for me.
