And for the Dems, it's not about Kavanaugh either. They no doubt would have tried to do the same with Gorsuch, but couldn't even come up with charges as shaky as those against Kavanaugh.

Some say approval of Kavanaugh would hurt the GOP with women voters in November. I doubt it. I think failure to confirm him would hurt the GOP with many voters. They would not vote Dem, they just would not vote, out of disgust with the GOP and the process.
Agree completely.

Tell this to the Republican fencesitters so far like Collins.

There has to be the illusion of due process.

At this time the guy is toxic so just dump him and toss in another person that's not so damn polarizing.

That would make sense and could actually help the GOP but it's the Trump era and nothing has to make sense anymore.

In short... you're 1000% right this isn't about Kavanaugh... so **** him. Put someone up equally conservative that we can be damn near certain isn't "rape-y" and ram the asshole through.

If Democrats try and stall that you pull the "hey wait a minute we pulled rapey guy... stop being dicks" and make them sweat for once.

This is the thing.
It's possible that Christine Blasey Ford is lying, just like Crystal Gail Mangum did.
It's also possible that Brett Kavanaugh is lying, just like Bill Cosby did.
All anybody can do at this point is to be as reasonable as possible in trying to determine which of the two is more likely.

https://web.stanford.edu/group/maan/...n/?page_id=297

According to a website associated with Stanford:

Only about 2% of all rape and related sex charges are determined to be false, the same percentage as for other felonies (FBI). So while they do happen, and they are very problematic when they do, people claim that allegations are false far more frequently than they are and far more frequently than for other crimes. Put another way, we are much more likely to disbelieve a woman if she says she was raped than if she says she was robbed, but for no good reason.

So, in general it's pretty unlikely that a woman making an accusation of sexual assault is lying. It's a 50/1 bet.
On the other hand, the most plausible case for claiming that Christine Blasey Ford is lying clearly has to do with the TIMING of her allegation.
The onus is on her to convincingly explain why she came forward when she did and not earlier.
On the other other hand, the fact that several accusers have now come forward makes it more likely, that Brett Kavanaugh is not as innocent as he maintains.

The bold accusations by Michael Avenetti could be a determining factor here.
It remains to be seen if he can substantiate them in the press conference he is promising within 48 hours.

The NRA LOVES Kavanaugh. What issue is more dear to your heart than pro gun rights and anti gun control? You think we're buying that you're all fired up about potentially losing Kavanaugh because of the PROCESS?

The race card wasn't available to use this time, but the sexual deviant card appears from a bottomless deck. What began as groping accusation soon grew to loin exposure and then on to gang rape, how low will they go?

We will see. Stay safe people.
If you see the Dims marching with Tiki torches, you'll know the jig is up.
But then again, some of them are good people.

Toss Kavanaugh and put someone up without this baggage.

It's really not rocket science and there's an election in 45 days.

Take a setback and turn it around and go on offense... that's what should have happened and it's too late now but that was the play.
