In this game, every single dollar that we try to win must come out of the pocket of someone else...and there are a lot of very smart horseplayers out there. I've read countless handicapping books, and have gotten into countless handicapping conversations with intelligent people...here, and elsewhere. "What's your edge?"...I keep asking myself. "How do you intend to win money from the other smart bettors out there...when the mathematics which govern the game dictate that only the few must remain on the profitable side?" And I must be able to articulate my presumed "edge" clearly and succinctly...otherwise the realization sinks in that I really don't have one.
