Once for me. Nothing special, and McD fries rule over waffle thingies.

Any of their breaded products are premium tasting. They also buy premium chicken.

Their breading is kind of a secret sauce. I’ve tried to steal it, re-create it etc

The waffle fries don’t do anything for me.

Love the breaded chicken though.

You know what this kind of stuff reminds me of? The Legion of Decency run by the Catholic Church. The movies that were not acceptable to the Catholic church were posted at the back of the churches.

One theater decided to show Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. They should have been afraid of the Catholic church. At all the churches, we were told to boycott the theater.

So my mother decides we're going to go to THAT theater to see 101 Dalmations. I tell her we can't because we've been banned from going to that theater. My mother said, get dressed, we're going. And we did. Of course, I went to confession and told the priest. My mother cost me a few extra Our Fathers and Hail Mary's. Ultimately the theater closed.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

You had a choice to go to the theater.
IF CF is not allowed to be there, that is government deciding for everyone.

Other movies banned by the church:
  • Scarface .. dePalma version
  • Angels in America
  • Requiem for a Dream
  • Fight Club
  • A Clockwork Orange
  • The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
  • Blow-up .. supposedly the movie has the first on-screen pubic hair.
  • From Russia With Love .. because Bond left the water running in the bathtub while he seduced the girl?
  • Last Tango in Paris
  • Taxi Driver

Lots of theaters are closing, mostly due to competition from TV, Netflix, Hulu, You-Tube, etc.

Our local theatre closed 2 or 3 years ago. The facility belonged to a Mall. Unable to get satisfactory lease renewal terms the theater operators took all their equipment and vacated only hours before the lease expired. No one in town expected this. Other theaters were 30 to 40 miles away. After a few dark weeks another operator was found and the theater reopened.

Apparently the bone of contention was that the operators wanted to sell alcoholic beverages and the mall was having none of it. The re-opened theater now sells booze.

And no doubt makes a lot more money on the booze than on the tickets.

Is there a bigger mark-up for booze than popcorn and soda?

Theaters usually get nothing on the tickets. Hollywood gets all the box office. The theater makes its money on concessions, including booze, if any. One theater in Columbus, Ohio removed half its seats, put in tables, and sells complete meals brought to your seats.

Once a movie is past its initial run (something like a month) the theater gets part of the ticket sales, assuming the distributor still wants the film exhibited.

I can't blame the theaters for wanting to serve booze. You need to be sloshed in order to sit through the movies that are coming out these days.

Fallout from the city of San Antonio's decision to ban Chick-fil-A from the city's airport is continuing as Texas attorney general Ken Paxton announced that he would investigate the city for First Amendment violations.

All the idiots had to do to keep them out was require any store in the airport to be open 7 days a week. All Chick-fil-A stores are closed on Sunday.
