The death penalty is OK by me!

I hate posting a story such as this here, because it shows the exact reason why I haven't watched a news telecast for over 3 years now...and why I would gladly volunteer to serve as an executioner in some of the murder cases that we often see. But I am posting the story anyway...as a reminder for those of us who consider the death penalty to be a grave injustice in our society today.

Is life imprisonment enough in a case such as this?

Death penalty is 100% OK by me, BUT, it should be mandatory that the state pay for any DNA evidence that applies.

For prison terms, her'e my idea -

You get put in an empty vell naked.
You have to work to earn credits for everything - clothes. food, a bed, blankets....everything. You want pants, you don't get supper today.
You don't work, you starve.

And anyone in for violent crimes is barred from any exercise equipment, weight, etc. and is forced to eat candy, donuts, ice cream, fried foods - anything to make them physically unable to walk by the time they get released.

And bill their families for it all.

Public executions in the largest stadium available. Like the Romans did in the Colosseum. Ticket prices would be similar to NFL playoff games. The executioner would be the highest bidder. Method of execution would be chosen by the executioner. Beer supplies would be unlimited. Stadium opened early so the crowd could get oiled up and in the mood. Proceeds would be given to the family or families of the victim(s).

Sexual assault of a minor among a few other serious crimes should be punishable by death. Burning on a stake is fine by me.

Vengeance and horrification of how cruel we can be motivates many of us, but the death penalty does not curtail homicides.

https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/documents/FactSheet.pdf

A report by the National Research Council, titled Deterrence and the Death Penalty, stated that studies claiming that the death penalty has a deterrent effect on murder rates are “fundamentally flawed” and should not be used when making policy decisions (2012). •Consistent with previous years, the 2016 FBI Uniform Crime Report showed that the South had the highest murder rate. The South accounts for over 80% of executions. The Northeast, which has less than 1% of all executions, had lowest murder rate.

The Death Penalty and Deterrence
https://www.amnestyusa.org/issues/de...nd-deterrence/

A 2009 survey of criminologists revealed that over 88% believed the death penalty was NOT a deterrent to murder.

Who cares about a deterrent? We're talking about punishment for a crime. Death penalty is OK by me with proper appeals process available

Execution used to be tortuous but has been sanitized to the point where IMO, it no longer serves as either punishment or deterrent. I prefer life without parole.

Bring back hanging or the gas chamber.

Capital punishment should be cruel and unusual.

You want to be cruel, build a 2' x 2' box 10' high, just wide enough for them not to be able to sit down, lock the door with no water or food and let them starve to death. Let their organs turn to mush. I guarantee you that would be a determent if they knew they had to go thru that.

The death penalty isn't much of a deterrent because the death row inmates die of OLD AGE instead of being executed promptly. Walk that bitch up to a noose tomorrow, and whisper in her ear..."that's alright, you can let go of your life now", the way SHE did to her poor adopted daughter...and watch her beg for her life while pissing in her pants. And...tie the boyfriend down and point a chain saw to his private parts...and see if that doesn't make a strong impression upon him.

Some people find life behind bars without parole a fate worse than death. Just a different angle to consider regarding what is the worse punishment. Putting someone in a suicide proofed room, to live most of the remainder of their life in isolation, save for a few trips out in the rest of the correctional facility...that could be cruel and unusual too. I think life without parole is a better deterent, especially for narcissistic people who murder from a sense of entitlement in cold blood. Taking control of their life away could be worse than granting them death.

It certainly reduces the recidivism rate.

More importantly, it serves the interests of justice.
