Thinking a bit on the Jim Dandy, I think Vino Rosso is a decent horse but he was just way too behind on the pace, and he doesn't always run that far off. Either Velazquez or Pletcher made a bad call if they meant for that. He was way too far off going into the first turn wow. It's like none of them had run a horse at that track before...or any route over a mile for that matter lol. Plus, Flameaway and Tenfold as stamina horses were underestimated by the betting public. Wonder where they will put VR next.
I don't think closers fair well in the dirt routes and will not bet them in the win/place unless they have clear advantages. And for the same I will continue to look for (Chad Brown) favourites to bet against who have done well at Belmont but not two turn tracks yet.
