If Crown Pride can get in the clear and have a nice stalking trip (a la Sunday Silence in '89), he does have a decent chance. It seems this year there are too many wild cards to figure out.

I'm on the Crown bandwagon. This guy wants to run. Go watch all of his races (they are out there to see). In his 2nd to last race, he had a horrible start, steadied, made a huge move up the backstretch, then finished well in 6th changing leads late. All while being 7 or 8 wide. Then in his last race, he wins WITHOUT changing leads. Wtf? Loaded with talent. Almost every race, he is fighting the jock, telling him "I want to run!". Now he's got Lemaire, arguably the best or near best in the world, he's got class, stamina, will, experience in big fields and great Japanese connections. Now he gets an ideal post 7 and apparently has the gate bell under control. He's been here a month, looks great, can handle the track, training SUPERBLY and if he can stay mid pack or stay close to the pace, and changes leads when he's asked, look out. He'll make his grandpa proud would be my guess.
That all said, I also love Messier, ESPECIALLY on an off track.

Believe me, I'd love to see Crown Pride win (check my avatar, lol).
I'll avoid wagering on him just in case that's the kiss of death.

If that mattress guy doesn't bet him, then your pick is safe.

Sonny Leon rode one of the best races in Derby history, and Lemaire on Crown Pride turned in one of the worst.

That wasn't a breeze in :46 and change, Crown was pushed, so it should have been designated as an H, not B for the bullet work.
