Thanks for bringing a personal perspective into this...I knew I was probably in over my head as the thread grew...but I'm an idiot and don't know when to stop.

How many years did you live there, if I may ask?

Technically from ‘74-‘92 but I was in and out of the country a lot from ‘88 on. I lost my daughter in 1988 and basically tried hard to dig a deep hole and jump in. The 1st intifada was going strong and and Ariel Sharon was getting ready to really f-up the Lebanon. I got a call up notice and I said nah, not going. The country was losing it’s soul. Went back 6 years ago to bury my ex. Don’t plan on ever going back.

Blaming Biden for this shows you're crazier than I feared.
Spreading malicious lies to forward your cause. What an asshole you are.

This tragedy comes down to a breakdown in intelligence which should never
have happened. The West is partly responsible, but Israel shoulders the blame.

Unfortunately, they are paying a high price. Hamas has upped the stakes,
and Palestine faces obliteration. Again - it's a human tragedy. Nothing else.

Blame America.
You and yours have brought this about.
At least 51% don't like what you're selling.

We should have pushed Palestine into the sea when your hero James Earl Carter Jr. got booted from office. The blame in a breakdown in intelligence is not correct but more like a internal struggle inside the state of Israel and how the data collected is understood. The very same problems the United States has Israel also has with left leaning idiots and moderates. Both are a cancer to hard working backbone of any country.

The difference between the majority of humanity and conservatives
is that most regard everyone as deserving to exist with dignity on this
planet regardless of their circumstances. No pushing anyone into the sea.

The problem for Palestine is that they are as Hamas does.
There is really no defending this latest attack, apart from
the fact that they've been backed into a corner for generations.

Conservatives have an easy solution for such situations.
Obliterate - don't negotiate. In the quest for their compliant utopia.

Oh, yes.
Jimmy Carter was voted out of the White House.
Remember how that's done?

Less square miles left to Gaza means being pushed into the sea, the IDF will never leave now.

Mike Tyson once said that everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. This describes what happens when young people have ideals and then have to learn the grim lessons of the world. So many wonderful young people in Israel voted liberal policies such as keeping their weapons in armories and allowing a trusting policy towards Palestinians. It seems every generation goes through this process and pays a price to learn its lessons.
I want to believe the best in people maybe even more than the next person. I have the disadvantage that I've seen too much. No amount of gentle warning to younger folks will change their trusting ways. People always believe that their generation will be different. Maybe it's hubris. I'm convinced it was for my generation.

The USA is peanuts compared to who's really protecting Israel.

This article claims the Palestinian invaders used weapons left behind in Afghanistan. Not sure if true or not.

mostpost will tell you it's definitely not true...that Hamas has been using M4s like forever...lol

And yes, they have been using them since before Afghanistan fell...however...to think none of those weapons made it into the hands of Hamas...or MONEY from the SALE of those weapons didn't make it into the hands of Hamas to make those 10 billion rockets....is naive at best.

For all the gun grabbers that is an actual assault weapon, by USA military definition as it has select fire. There are a bunch of local elections for delegates and since my local TV is about a 75 mile radius I am bombarded by all the political ads for Democrats that are going to save the world by banning "assault weapons". What the hell is an assault weapon? Ask 1,000 Democrats you get 1,000 different answers, kind of like when you ask what a MAGA is.

Do we honestly have to listen to your BS?

If god is doing the protecting he’s doing a piss-poor job.

Moderator, shouldn’t this be on the religious thread?

Who do you blame for voting Netanyahu into office?

He’s the PM. The buck stops with him.

If it is proven that any israeli official had even a fingernail’s foreknowledge of this attack they should face a firing squad.

On second thought not to worry…more than half the country would take turns.

The fact that I or anyone else should even consider this possibility sickens me. I don’t like Netanyahu mucho. But even he wouldn’t do that. Would he? I can’t believe he would.
