He is very political and fits right in with many in the dim party ... that is why MSNBC and CNN each had him on as an expert dozens of times.
I am not sure I would characterize him as Dumpster Fire, Wet Blanket, or Pole Dancing Aficionado.

For about the past 10 years or so the HFC and the Tea Party have been the biggest obstructionists to getting anything done.
It was mostly a reactionary movement to Bush and Obama with Obamacare being the match that set it off.
That coalition seems to be really weakening though for a couple of reasons but mostly the rights shift into culture politics and the election of Trump and his policies.
We may get a period here where more can get done with a moderated 2nd term Trump or a centrist Democrat like Biden (possibly a couple others fit the bill too).
It will probably be really shortlived though as the next obstructionist bloc is already on the horizon with the DSA wing of the Democrat party.

We have a two-party system in this country, the Evil Party and the Stupid Party. True believers in both parties believe that anything good that happens while their guy is in the White House happened entirely because of him, and anything bad that happens is a result of the other party being out to get him.
The proof is on this forum. Just look at the posts of the The Donald's fan boyz over the last couple of years, or their counterparts during the previous administration. There never was heard a discouraging word from the acolytes of either.
The same applies to Congress. If Congress screws up, I mean when Congress screws up, it is always the fault of those guys in the other party.

I think is say to say nothing good ever happens no matter who controls congress.
A two party system is like having lockjaw and stomach flu at the same time.
