Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 3 Buddies (7-5) In his first try on the dirt after 3 descent outs on the grass at Sha Tin was bet down to the 3-1 second choice and that was even after he drew the outside post with the very short run to the first turn. He broke well on his own and Purton allowed him to grab the lead entering the turn, half-way in the turn he was out by two and was placed on the rail heading into the backstretch. He carried that comfortable lead entering the stretch and like a seasoned vet he drew off without any urging and reached the wire under a strangle hold. Should be plenty in the tank after that gallop around, and hopefully he'll be kept on the dirt and an extra bonus if it comes up wet again.

Race 6 Joyful Heart (7-1) Had put in three straight clunkers after winning a straight 1 000 at Sha Tin at 15-1 in his debut, now had Teetan back in the saddle who rode him in his lone victory. He broke well enough and was placed in the back-half of the field heading down the backstretch, then entering the turn second time starter One Step Ahead who was racing on the rail drifted out slightly and caused Teetan to take up on him losing a few lengths to the field. Then after catching up to the field entering the stretch he was blocked while in the two path, then at the 300 mark Promise Kept drifted out giving Joyful Heart running room, but again ran into a road block at 150 metres when Chan hit Royal Chocolate on the right side and he drifted back into Joyful Heart's path slightly. Teetan wrapped up on him and let him gallop out to the wire losing by 2 1/2 lengths without being hit once in the stretch.

Race 7 Sonic Fighter (8-1) Was bet down as the 6-5 after finishing second to Beauty Energy who ran away from that field, and picked up leading rider Zac Purton who rarely rides for O'Sullivan but when he does it usually is on a runner ready to fire. He broke well and Purton placed him mid-pack but three wide, heading into the turn he lost a little ground to the field when So on Lasting Friendship moved over into his path forcing Sonic Fighter to take back slightly. Entering the stretch he was in the two path and instead of swinging out wide Zac took his chances trying to find running room closer to the rail, unfortunately that didn't work so at the 350 metre mark he swung to an opening on his outside but at the 200 metre mark Gallant Legacy who was starting to tire drifted inwards and forced Zac to grab Sonic Fighter losing all his momentum (it cost Domeyer two racing days). He re-broke after that while not being asked and finished well under the wire.

Race 11 Raging Storm (5-1) Had been away from the track since last December after winning his last two races, but was entered in a distance that doesn't suit him (most likely this was just a workout). Even with all that, the public made him the 5-2 second betting choice to Refined Treasure who is a 1 000 metre specialist. He settled in the second flight behind a wall of 5 trying to set the pace, at 250 metres to go Moreira had to slightly grab his head after being blocked with no exit sign around. Moreira hand rode him the rest of the trip, look for him back at his preferable 6 furlongs next time out.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
Race 2 Gunnar (11-1)
Race 7 Little Wise Man (3-5)

Key Plays:
Race 9 Simply Brilliant (9-2)
Race 11 Raging Storm (5-1)

Longshots:
Race 2 Gunnar (11-1)
Race 10 Ultimate Glory (12-1)

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 5 Remarkable (5-1) Is win-less after 9 tries on the turf in Hong Kong but has done reasonably well on the dirt and at this class level too. He stepped at length slow maybe even two from the gate, Moreira found himself in the fourth flight heading into the first turn while saving ground. He got himself into a nice stride heading down the backside chasing an average pace for the class, heading into the stretch after continuing to race nearest the rail Moreira drifted him to the two path for running room, at the 200 metre mark there was an opening just to his left. But, before Moreira could stick him in a fast moving hole the front-runner Salto Olimpico drifted out into his path taking his momentum away from him just for a moment, unfortunately he couldn't get him back into the fray quick enough to get up at the wire.

Race 6 Cordyceps (5-2) Just missed out in his last against Champion Supreme who has now won two races in a row with one of them a jump up in class. Cordyceps has been very unlucky at the draw of late and got a break (if you want to call it that) getting the 9 post. He likes to be right on the pace but was outrun in the first 100 metres by Cheers Vanquisher with bugboy Wong on him and after breaking from the 12 gate he had to use him up to get the lead which Moreira allowed him to do. Heading into the turn he was still stuck on the outside travelling three wide without any cover, then mid-stretch he just couldn't hold off 2nd up co-favourite Uncle Steve who had a perfect trip compared to Cordyceps.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
None

Key Plays:
Race 5 Remarkable (5-1)
Race 7 Smart Leader (5-2)

Longshots:
Race 1 Giant Turtle (12-1)

Race 8 Empire Star (9-5) Is winless after 24 tries with all of them at this class level and 19 of them here at Sha Tin, will continue to play against him until he proves he understands what he’s supposed to be doing on the track in the afternoon even with Purton on his back.

Race 9 Happy Force (9-2)

Class specialists running tonight:
Race 3 Multimillion (7-1)

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 1 Speedy Missile (5-1) In his debut for the Ting barn was bet down as the 7-2 second betting choice after three nice barrier trials. At the break he stood on his hind legs losing at least four lengths to the field forcing him to run at the rear early on, then on the backside he started to climb uncontrollably. This continued until right before they entered the stretch, he then started to make a run at the front runners but with 200 metres to go he began to tire and instead of wearing him out like my father did when I miss behaved as a child Teetan put the stick away and let him gallop out to the wire.

Race 1 Victoriam (8-1) After running two game thirds in his previous barrier trials, he was bet down to the 2-1 favourite in a 12 horse field going 6 while breaking from the 3 post, while catching a yielding track after heavy rains during the card. At the break he was bumped sideways when Trust Me from the 2 hole came out into him, he quickly recovered and joined into the fight up front without any encouragement from Rispoli. Then heading into the turn Eight Trigrams with bugboy Ho on darted in front of him temporarily making him very rank, when they entered the stretch there was an opening for him but his lack of experience and refusal to switch to his proper lead step the hole was moving faster than he was. He was asked a few time by Rispoli to run in the stretch but wasn't overly abused after seeing they weren't going to get up today, will learn from the effort and enough excuses to forgive this race.

Race 6 Garlic Yeah (4-1) Has not had that much success in Class 4 and especially at Sha Tin and in his last two races found himself blocked in the stretch. He broke alright but was a little slow to get into the bit so van Niekerk gave him a few whacks to get his attention, that placed him mid-pack while saving ground on the rail. With 400 metres left he shifted out looking for running room but Schofield on the eventual winner Smart Rocket had him trapped behind some tiring runners and had to take up losing his momentum for the moment. He then shifted in towards the rail but Ho on Sunny Power beat him to the opening forcing him to go elsewhere for room, he finished well in the last 100 without much encouragement from the South African. So that makes three races in a row where he wasn't allowed to stretch his legs in the lane, and hopefully he'll be running at the downtown track next time.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
Race 6 Management Star (7-1)

Key Plays:
Race 1 Speedy Missile (5-1)
Race 5 Shining Ace (2-1)
Race 6 Garlic Yeah (4-1)

Longshots:
Race 4 Lotus Breeze (20-1)
Race 7 Endearing (24-1)
Race 8 Ka Ying Brilliance (11-1)

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 3 Aquila (4-5) In his debut at the track for trainer Ting he was bet down as the even money favourite after two impressive wins in barrier trials. He broke well and had a clear lead after 300 metres, but with about 150 metres to go he started to get leg weary and was passed by second time starter Valiant Dream but did finish a length and three quarters in front of third place finisher Marvelous World. He should improve after that effort.

Race 5 Magic Success (3-5) Had been away from the races since February when he was placed on the Vet's List after he bled in his last out. He broke well and was placed up near the lead without any encouragement by Purton, by the turn he was racing very comfortable sitting just off the 4-5 favourite high weight Beauty Applause with Moreira on for John Size barn. At the top of the stretch Magic Success went by the leader without any encouragement and after a quick reminder he drew away from the field with ease and was under a strangle hold at the line. There should be plenty in the tank after that glorified barrier trial.

Race 6 Young Legend (8-5) After running all out to the wire and not getting up against Super Wise who had a much easier trip, Purton decided to stay on after only picking up a couple handicap points. He broke well and went straight to the lead, after a couple hundred metres he allowed Zac to settle him right off the hip of Comfort Life heading into the turn. He pulled up to the front runner at the top of the stretch switched to his proper lead without any encouraging, after a few reminders from the rider on why they were there he galloped out to the wire and was never really challenged, he picks up 7 points which will allow him to stay in Class 3 for at least one more run.

Race 6 Follow Me (9-2) Is a very consistent runner with 5 finishes in the top two places out of 7 races but had been away from the races since February and was bet down as the 4-5 betting favourite against a decent Class 3 race. After breaking on top Moreira took him a couple lengths off the eventual winner Super Wise who is a need to lead type down the backside, then in the turn while racing very comfortable in the 2 path waiting to make a run at the leader. But, he never could get up the speed to chase down the lone front runner who had plenty left late, and at the 150 Moreira came to the conclusion that it was all over and just showed him the stick for the remaining distance. He did come back on the Vet’s List from that effort ‘unacceptable performance’.

Race 7 Beauty Loyal (2-1) Tony Cruz runner hasn't shown all that much talent so far in his 14 races in Hong Kong but when Purton picks up the mount it usually is a sign of impending improvement. At the break he was forced out slightly by Exceptional Desire when he broke to the right, after trying for the lead Purton took him back off the pace halfway down the backstretch, then just before the turn he checked up when he tried to get over but couldn't get it done with Exceptional Desire already in that path. In the stretch he drifted out to the middle of the track for clean running room and at the 200 metre mark he looked like the winner but with less than 50 to go he was passed by the high weight Monica on his outside.

Race 11 Harmony Victory (6-1) Was dropping in class after running in over his head in the Derby. At the start he was a step slow away from the gate which caused him to be shuffled to the rear, then while racing on the backside van Niekerk had to grab him up when he ran up on runners in front of him losing another length in the process. In the turn he started to climb when he wanted to run with nowhere to go, then drifted out to the 5 path entering the stretch to finally find some running room. He closed well in the stretch while switching to his wrong lead late and lugging in while the winner Ka Ying Star had raced on an uncontested lead racing nearest the rail.

Well the family and I had a wonderful vacation. I just want to let those interested in HK racing know that I've decided to let the rest of this season's meet slide because it nearly over anyway. I've now got some personal priorities which will also take precedence.

I'm not sure how many of you have been impacted by my mentor the original "ToteMaster", but right now he's experiencing some life-changing things as a result of major medical surgery. His expected recovery time is at least 3 months, and I've decided to offer my direct assistance. Not just because he has helped me every step of the way learning and applying THE best tote analysis on the planet, but because he's become a True friend.
It's not often that you meet a person that can distinguish themselves in that regard.

So although you may not know him or communicated with him I'm sure he wouldn't mind knowing that some might be praying for his speedy recovery.

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 3 Styling City (9-2) After trying the big boys in graded races, he recently has been back down to where he belongs racing at the Class 2 level, but in here was given one of the outside post to break from. He broke very well and was placed a lot closer to the pace than he usually is while chasing the eventual winner favourite Hezthewonforus who broke from the far outside post, entering the turn he was pressured by the 5 pound bug-boy Wong on Kasi Farasi who decided to join the front end three wide putting Styling City the meat in the sandwich. Styling City stayed with the winner until the 250 metre mark where he decided he had had enough, was passed late in the stretch by a fast closing Fast Most Furious who just missed at the wire on a head bob.

Race 4 Circuit Three (7-1) Was a very disappointing 13th after refusing to split runners and was placed on the Vet's List with an unacceptable performance. At the break he was caught flat footed and reared slightly losing a couple lengths to the field, he quickly recovered and placed himself near the front runners without any encouragement by Teetan, with 1 300 to go he started fighting for the bit and became a little rank. In the turn he was forced to race three wide then entering the stretch into the 5 path and pretty much just galloped out to the wire without any abuse by Karis.

Race 5 Chicken Dance (2-1) In his debut in March he went off very cold on the board at 31-1 while drawing the 10 post with the short run to the turn at Sha Tin going 1 200 but closed well in the stretch after breaking a little slow to Splendour And Gold and even galloped out past the him after the wire, unfortunately for his trainer Paul O'Sullivan he caught a fever and missed some training while being placed on the Vet's List. Today's race he was treated a little more kindly by the betting public, going off as the 4-1 second betting choice behind the eventual 4-5 winner Shining Ace for John Size. He was unlucky again at the draw though with the computer giving him the 14 post, after breaking well at the start Teetan wasn't going to use him up while trying to get him over the rail, so he raced four wide in the turn all the while the winner was forwardly placed and on the rail. He finished well in the stretch while mostly just given crosses by his rider and not abused with the stick, hopefully he gets a better draw next out.

Race 8 Insayshable (5-1) Drew a very tough Group 3 with Simply Brilliant, Ka Ying Star and the up and coming Champion's Way who was going off as the heavy favourite after winning 5 of his first 6 races. After racing for 400 metres he was placed mid-pack by the ofter injured Italian rider Rispoli, then just before they headed into the turn he became slightly rank but soon recovered, in the stretch while saving ground on the rail he refused to split the front runner, then when he came back over and took the gap away Rispoli was all covered up and lost important ground when he had to shift to the outside for running room. While this was going on, the chalk Champion's Way was making his winning move, Insayshable rebroke after room became available and was gaining on him at the wire. Hopefully there will be a change of riders next time out.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
Race 5 Monkey Jewellery (5-1)
Race 10 Sonic Fighter (10-1)

Key Plays:
Race 3 Styling City (9-2)
Race 5 Chicken Dance (2-1)

Longshots:
Race 7 Ping Hai Galaxy (20-1)
Race 10 Sonic Fighter (10-1)
