Vulnerable favourite on the card:
Race 2 Top Ace (7-2) Is winless in Hong Kong after 31 tries and has yet to hit the board in 4 outs at the downtown course, connections are very hot but will try and beat him in here.

Horses coming out of key races running tonight (races where multiple winners have come back next time out and won):
Race *726 (Winners: 1st, 4th & 7TH)
Race 4 Bingo (11-1)

Race *731 (Winners: 1st & 4th, Second: 5th)
Race 8 Extremely Fun (12-1)

In the event of rain these horses have shown an appreciation for soft footing. (Good to Yielding or Yielding):
Race 6 Sparkling Sword (7-1)

Trainer/Jockey/Horse winning combos running tonight:
Race 1 Multimax (6-1)
Race 6 Speedy Wally (4-1)

Horses for courses running tonight:
None

Distance specialists running tonight:
Race 5 Multigogo (7-1)

Class specialists running tonight:
None

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 4 Country Star (7-5) Was bet down to the 2-1 second choice in his debut for Size with Zach on for the ride. He broke well but started pulling soon after the start while racing near the back of the field, started his move when he straightened up in the stretch but was forced to be taken up at the 260 metre mark when two runners in front of him drifted towards each other. He looked to have lost his concentration afterwards for the next 100 metres, started running again when he was able to get clear near the wire, and galloped out well. Keeps Purton for the ride and gets a favourable draw in a very weak Class 4 field today.

Race 8 Starlight (7-2) He took his normal running position in the back third of the field down the backside, raced 2 wide in the turn, started gaining on the front runners mid-stretch but was blocked by those same tiring leaders, then was forced back towards the rail when the favourite Buoyant Boy was making his winning move. Purton grabbed him up and let him gallop out after that. Drew the 11 hole today, Purton will most likely grab him soon after the start and get as close to the rail and try to make a run on it in the stretch.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
Race 6 Starlight Knight (16-1)
Race 6 Speedy Wally (4-1)

Key Plays:
Race 4 Country Star (7-5)
Race 6 Speedy Wally (4-1)
Race 8 Starlight (7-2)

Longshots:
Race 5 My Ally (16-1)
Race 7 Breeders’ Star (10-1)

Vulnerable favourite on the card:
Race 4 Golden Four (4-1) Just missed out in his debut of the racing year but had everything going his way, a strong pace to run at with a track that was favouring closers. Draws the 11 post and with both the trainer and rider still on the duck, will be playing that he’s still winless after today.

Horses coming out of key races running today (races where multiple winners have come back next time out and won):
Race *727 (Winners: 1st & 6th, Second: 7th)
Race 1 Manful Star (8-1)

Race *698 (Winners: 1st & 3rd, Second: 5th)
Race 3 Seventy Seventy (7-1)

Race 9 Team Spirit (11-1)

In the event of rain these horses have shown an appreciation for soft footing. (Good to Yielding or Yielding):
Race 8 Season’s Bloom (11-1)
Race 8 Southern Legend (14-1)
Race 9 Superich (6-5)

Trainer/Jockey/Horse winning combos running today:
Race 2 Bullish Glory (5-1)

Race 8 Beauty Generation (9-2)

Race 8 Thewizordofoz (23-1)
Race 8 Ping Hi Star (7-2)
Race 8 Nothingilikemore (5-1)
Race 10 Raging Storm (9-1)

Distance specialists running today:
Race 7 Hot King Prawn (7-5)
Race 7 Not Listenin’tome (6-1)

Class specialists running today:
None

Last race watch list horses running today:
Race 3 Seventy Seventy (7-1) He broke well enough and was placed near the back half of the field, but after 200 metres he started to raise his head and raced very uncomfortable for the next 200 metres. Moved off the rail to the four path entering the stretch, but lacked running room until late and was forced to be taken up nearing the wire after the race had already been decided by the easy favourite winner Mighty Maverick. Unfortunately drew the 11 hole for his first race of the season.

Race 8 Beauty Only (12-1) Was a step slow then was pinched back when the surrounding runners came together, raced at the rear of the field on the backside, moved to the three path in the turn. Callan continued to take him wider entering the stretch, he continued to close but wasn’t able to chase down the chalk winner The Golden Age near the wire. Has a favourable post today even though he’s in tough with some real bears in here but he seems to run well after breaks.

Past watch list runners running today:
None

Key Plays:
Race 3 Seventy Seventy (7-1)
Race 8 Beauty Only (12-1)

Longshots:
Race 2 Play It (15-1)
Race 3 Super Eighteen (15-1)
Race 5 Big Bang Bong (13-1)
Race 9 Team Spirit (11-1)

Cool HONG KONG - SHA TIN MON 10/1/18

Good morning to everyone interested in the best racing product on the planet!
I wanted to stop by and post a few pre-race selections for another very competitive card that looks to offer some decent value. There will 10 races at Sha Tin ALL on the Turf: (from top to bottom) -
(2)-ClassG3, (1)-Class2, (3)-Class3, (4)-Class4 & (0)-Class5

Post Time Race #1 – 1:00 AM MON EST

Current Hong Kong Weather: https://www.google.com/search?q=Hong...hrome&ie=UTF-8

TVG is offering live video for the all 10 races.
There’s also Live Video on:
http://www.drf.com/drf/live_video/hong_kong/392221
If you can't view the races try listening on the HK Jockey Club radio: (Click on English) http://www.hkjc.com/english/press/live.asp#

For those of who might appreciate the value of the LIVE tote action it’s available here:
(Hit the Back Arrow <-- in the Upper Left and then Click on English)
http://bet.hkjc.com/default.aspx?url...ng=en&dv=local

I’ve already taken a look at the M/L’s in combination with the early odds and used the static tote analysis to come up with the preliminary picks for each race. Later, the Live tote analysis will shed some more light on these and any others I might have missed. The latest tote action (by 4 mins to post) may reveal some things that cause substitutions among the Top 3 picks, but they generally look fairly decent for some nice Quinella & Tri scores.

BTW the Top 3 picks have continued to produce some nice Dutch Win returns when the combined odds produce Profit Margins higher ^ than 50%. When I can’t make a Dutch Win bet I’ll generally pay more attention to the Quinellas and perhaps even a Triple play if the combined values add up to decent return.

Good Luck if you’re playing!

Vulnerable favourites on the card:
Race 3 Captain Boss (7-2) Has yet to carry his Irish form in Hong Kong after 14 races, is stretching out tonight to 1650 metres after mostly running sprint distances, trainer is 1 for 41 so far this year.

Race 5 Travel Successor (3-1) Just missed out in his last while breaking from the 12 hole and going wide in the turn without any cover, was all out in the stretch only to miss out by a short head, looking that race took too much out of him after the 3 month break.

Horses coming out of key races running tonight (races where multiple winners have come back next time out and won):
Race *727 (Winners: 1st & 6th, Second: 7th & 8th)
Race 5 Golden Glory (10-1)

Race 3 Wah May Baby (14-1)

Race 7 Sichuan Dar (21-1)
Race 7 Pretty Bauhinia (17-1)

Distance specialists running tonight:
Race 8 Eighty Eighty (9-2)

Class specialists running tonight:
None

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 3 Electric Lightning (6-1) Settled right behind the leaders soon after the break, but after 400 metres the widest of the frontrunners was taken back out of the fight forcing Teetan take him back losing as least a length of positioning. In the turn just before the stretch Poon on Let Us Win moved to the outside and herded Teetan in behind the front pack, was forced to take up at the 350 metre mark in the stretch while full of run, finally when he found room to run he was blocked AGAIN by Poon he finished evenly and galloped out well.

Race 5 Clear Choice (7-1) Was bumped sideways at the start when two gates under him Pearl Warm Warm took a left turn out of the gate, was able to settle mid-pack on the backstretch. At the top of the stretch was bumped again when the eventual winner Mickey Rich shied from the stick and drifted in on him, then was forced up at the 150 metre mark when in tight between two runners, was not asked afterwards.

Race 8 Jumbo Happiness (7-2) Was bet down to 2.9-1 after being away from the races for 5 months, was taken up slightly after the start when the winner Eagle who broke on the rail came out in front of him. He then raced mid-pack on the backside, got in tight in the turn while racing on the rail when Harbour Alert also had to take up a little, finished out very well in the stretch only to miss by less than a length.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
Race 4 Fire And Gold (7-1)
Race 6 Starlight (5-1)

Key Plays:
Race 3 Electric Lightning (6-1)
Race 6 Starlight (5-1)
Race 8 Jumbo Happiness (7-2)

Longshots:
Race 2 Cheerful Star (19-1)

Race 9 King Genki (6-5) Drew the 12 gate in his second out of the season while dropping down to Class 3 after strictly running in Class 2 events for the last two years. Settled mid-pack while going into the turn 4 wide without any cover all the while the eventual winner with the low weight of 112 was on the lead, finished out strongly while gaining on the winner nearing the wire and galloped out well.

Race 10 Winning Faith (6-1) After being away for a couple months due to the end of the season was bet down to 3-1 as the co-favourite while drawing the rail. Broke about a length slow, had to slightly take up in the turn when the field started to back up right before the entrance to the stretch, then in the stretch lacked running room and was never able to really stretch his legs.

In HK Racing, the saddlecloth numbers do not necessarily correspond to the post position, correct...? What explains this rationale over how we do it in the states...?

Numbers are assigned by the handicap, higher the rating, higher the weight carried. The highest weight (minus the allowance for a bug) in the race is #1 and so on. They use a computer to pick gate positions.

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 1 Po Ching Treasure (9-2) Two races back went off as the favourite at Sha Tin going 9 furlongs but was unfortunate to catch a yielding track and finished up the track without any pressure from Ho. Was bet down to 6-1 in his debut for the new racing season going a mile at Sha Tin, sat right behind the duel while racing on the rail, then in the stretch when the rest of the field were making their stretch moves he was still caught behind the two front runners without no exit sign in sight, by the time there was room the race was all but over. Was wrapped up for the final 100 metres and galloped out well.

Race 5 Nice Kick (17-1) In his first try at the city track was bet down to 4-1 after the season break and coming off the Vet’s list the stable must have thought they had fixed the problem. Was unable to find his way to the rail heading into the short turn soon after the start and raced mid-pack without any cover on the backside, then four wide in the turn and finished evenly in the stretch while not being pushed for the last 150 metres.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
None

Key Plays:
Race 6 Fairy Twins (6-1)
Race 8 Mongolian Legend (18-1)

Longshots:
Race 3 Speedy Wally (12-1)
Race 4 Roman Odyssey (23-1)

HONG KONG – HAPPY VALLEY WED 10/10/18

Good morning to everyone interested in the best racing product on the planet!
I wanted to stop by and post a few pre-race selections for another very competitive card that looks to offer some decent value. There will 8 races at Happy Valley ALL on the Turf: (from top to bottom) -
(1)-Class2, (2)-Class3, (4)-Class4 & (1)-Class5

Post Time Race #1 – 7:15 AM WED EST

Current Hong Kong Weather: https://www.google.com/search?q=Hong...hrome&ie=UTF-8

TVG is offering live video for all these races.

Later, the Live tote analysis will shed more light on these and any others I might have missed.
