Not only is Maximum Security unbeaten but nobody has even challenged him yet.
Has the speed to make his own trip. Can take the lead or stalk has done both.
Made Bourbon War, Code of Honor and Hidden Scroll all look cheap.
Projected odds around 12-1. Easy Use

Can't knock that....if he doesn't win, he should at least hit the board.

Yeah not saying he is the winner but I believe he has just as good of a shot as Omaha Beach, Improbable, Game Winner and Roadster but at much better odds.

I have mixed feelings about this horse.
On the one hand I like betting against horses that had an easy trip last out moving into a spot that will be much more difficult.
On the other hand, horses that have been drawing off from their competition in slow paced races sometimes don't show what they actually have in the tank until they are tested.
When he's tested, my guess is that he's either going to come up totally empty and finish off the board or surprise us at how good he actually is.
I think he's probably "all" or "nothing" with "all" defined as a huge race.

I agree with everything you said. I just think that his odds will be attractive enough that it makes it worth the risk to add him to your ticket. If he was going off at 9/2 than I probably would leave him off but at 12-1 it makes it alot easier to look past his negatives.

Just heard on TVG that Baffert said that Maximum Security was the one horse that scared him and he alao said he was the only true speed horse in the race.
Caton Bredar went on to say that if Baffert was his trainer than " he would be the hands down favorite based on his body of work." I was thinking exactly the same thing before she said it. If Baffert trained him than he would be labeled as Justify 2.0
How can anyone leave this horse off your ticket at around 12-1 ? Toss in War of Will around 20-1 and Haikal at around 25-1 and you got some great value ....

I guess my biggest question about Maximum Security is how come he doesn’t have a steady jockey? 4 races 3 different jockeys.

Did Mott ever have a go-to rider?

Unworkman like works . . .
Worked 4f on 4/13 in 54.85, the standard 4fl work for this type gearin' up for this race is 48.00.
Worked 3f on 4/21 in 42.00, the standard 3fl work for this type gearin' up for this race is 36.00.
Why 4f in 54.85, (50/50) what good is that? Why a 3f work? What good is a 3f work gonna' do right now for a colt goin' 10f in a couple of weeks? A 3f work is usually a blow out shortly before the race. I don't understand what Servis is trying to accomplish w/these works . . . the horse may be out of sorts or he has a sharp 7f or 1m work scheduled soon, if not . . . .
I did notice he has him wrapped up pretty tight w/the front wraps, generally a precaution considering the big race comin' up, but I've never seen the wraps go so high up and in the 3f work the right front wrap looks a bit peculiar . . . I can't seem to get a good focus on it. Maybe you can put a horseplayer's eye on that front right wrap, give us another perspective. Here is the link to the video of his works.

If you look at his workouts in the past, he has almost always ran a :50+ for 4F. But then again, those are the published workouts. Who knows what is going on between workouts.

Why why why. Why did trainer put him in for a 16K tag? Why did all the horses in the FL derby let him get away with that 1/2 ---- trainer is unconventional, I don't try to figure it out. IMHO, Code of Honor had to go faster than he would normally have had to since jock could see what was going to happen......that won't happen in Derby. CoH and Game Winner (and others) will have a pacesetter in Max Security, Max will have to contend w/other horses running near the front end, and IMHO and he won't have the short stretch like at Gulfstream.....which is where he runs out. Possibly

It would be nice to see the horse get to the Churchill grounds so we can see what he's doin' right?
