I think Mitole is the real deal and the eighth furlong won't be a problem. Really surprised at the odds disparity between him and the .

Terrible ride by Smith. Made everymove the wrong one.
He should have gone outside the or (not sure) in the stretch.
Nice CJ!

CJ is on FIRE.
McKenzie never looked a winner after breaking poorly, by the time Smith found trouble it was already over. Yea, between the break and the ride, you worry if Smith is healthy, but that's some of the randomness in the sport.
Disappointing day, but it's horse racing and you never get overconfident in a specific outcome.

Probably going to be some trip notes from this race for sure. Smith rode Midnight Bisou perfectly, think he just made one poor decision to not just go outside in the lane in this race.
I still think Mitole was best, battling through fast fractions while between horses is not an easy trip at all.

Nice call CJ. It looked like the stumbled at the start too but still made a go of it.

Smith is not a ground saving type of rider, especially in big fields. Main reason he has been west coast based for the best part of his career.

That's true.
I would have been feeling a lot better had he broke mid-pack or so. Back in the 2018 Malibu @ 7f, he had a slow start, but today I felt he was a sharp horse coming in, and that the track is obviously kind to inside speed.
After they broke, I no longer had the chalk, I had a long shot hope. By the time Smith rode up another horse's butt, although it made me mildly more pissed, I wasn't optimistic. Some late surge (and sometimes traffic actually helps a surge), but never got excited.
May look to Tacitus and see if they are still all spread out on the betting (no real sense in playing a double, -even if you are tossing Bricks, you'd simply bet the others to Win in that pool), but probably just eat a loss.
