Anybody remember Belamy Road?
Didn't Pletcher have Belamy Road?
Fiercness reminds me of Belamy Road.
The horse pops a big number the race before the derby and doesn't show up in Kentucky.
Fiercness should win by the numbers BUT... Pletcher already
burned him up>>??

Fierceness had no excuse. I am guessing his next race will be the Haskell, doubtful he goes in the Belmont.

Bad timing for the not-so-great Fierceness to throw in another clunker.
Still, an interesting horse to watch run, 'cause he can be exciting at times.
Wonder if something went haywire with him?

Why not? This year's Belmont will be run at 9f. And.... At Saratoga.

The answer to the question was apparently YES.

When he spit the bit at the top of the stretch like in his other bad races, I knew I was done....

I think he's a very fast horse that can put up a big number when he gets a track surface or weak field/relaxed trip that allows him to carry his speed longer.
It would not shock me if he turns out to be a better miler.

The horse was running what was looking like a potential winning race. The splits were aggressive but not overheated. He did have a hop at the start and some speculate a possible injury, from that or elsewhere. Or perhaps he pulled a Skip Away by throwing in a Derby clunker before he was a horse to be reckoned with. Will see what Pletcher says. The horse is much better than the half the field that passed him. If he's sound, then I'd expect a few big runs this summer and fall.

When he was setting 3rd, just off the leaders, at the 1/2 mile pole, I thought the race was already over. Thought Fierceness would win by 3-4 lengths from there, I would cash a ton of tickets and have a huge payday. Boy was I wrong.

The chart says, "surpassed by an outer pair and an inner bidder entering the lane and folded between horses." I first read that as, "surprised." Like he didn't want any part of being challenged and faded, fulfilling his unfavorable narrative.

Well, at least I got this one right.
Horse reminds me of Irish War Cry.
