California handle in August down 4.6 percent

All-sources handle throughout California was down 4.6 percent to $328.8 million in August, contributing to a decline of 10.5 percent through the first eight months of the year, according to figures released at Thursday’s California Horse Racing Board meeting.

Not always.

There have been times in the past when California tracks have been caught inflating handle numbers given to the press.

The inflated numbers came about when the track 'accidentally' included handle that was bet on out of state races being simulcast by the track.

what is the trend in Canterbury's handle since they raised the takeout? It has been a few years since they raised the price I think

Most tracks in the us are down, those that used new gimmicks dont have that crutch anymore.
