Science and religion are not an either/or proposition, except to the Genesis literalists, and they don't have to be in opposition. boxcar's insistence that science is a religion serves his purposes, obviously because it creates an alternative explanation to the Genesis story, including shredding the 6,000 year old earth theory. But to say, here is what I saw, and this is how I can test how it got that way, could only be blasphemous if god was testing faith by making things seem scientifically explainable. It is not a rejection of religion, but, to paraphrase Jesus, rendering unto science what is science's, and rendering unto religion what is religion's.

Yes I agree with you. You misunderstood my post.

That's what I implied in Post 2757 which apparently was ignored.

I would classify those as philosophies rather than religions. Whatever.

From the review.

That may be the conclusion to the book, but it’s hardly the climax. Rather, the focus is on the process of getting to that number. The questions I asked myself as I read the book included: What equation(s) did Unwin use? How did he find numbers to plug into it? Is there any merit to his method?

Then exactly what did this mean if not the age of the earth represents spiritual truth to some people? I figure you would know because you said it.

Those who need validation from external factors such as Earth's age for their "spiritual truth" are obviously not looking within and therefore not enlightened.

At no point did Light ever tell you or even intimate that your spiritual validation was in question.
Not every comment here is about You.
Light said that the truth is within you.
Halvy, time to move on.

But greater than zero, by your math which hasn't been shown here.
What would the probability of all of my father's millions of sperms cells that he ever produced over 39 years having 1 combine with 1 of my mother's ova as she produced them month after month until age 27 combining to form a sinner like me?
You don't need to answer. Just askin.

Do you want to see it?

You should ask a biologist. It would seem to be very high.

Right. When you answer someone directly, you aren't referencing them. Perfect logic.

You are missing the point by pigeonholing major belief systems. Fact remains no deity is needed for a good portion of the world's philosophy-religions. Whateveryou want to call it.

Neither is a belief in the supernatural needed. I think combating boxcar's idiocy consumes too many here. It's a given that he knows not what he is babbling about. Let it go.

All I was saying previously was that it is my point of view that the age of the Earth is irrelevant in spiritual matters for true spiritual seekers because "God is within" as Jesus said.

I did not disagree with anything you wrote.

Hear! Hear! Spoken like the true atheist you are. In your universe, Hcap is the only "higher power" needed.
