New off-topic moderator - thaskalos
I obviously need some help as it's a one man show here (cj doesn't venture much into off-topic, and I don't blame him).
Plus, it's good to have someone with a different perspective than my own to function as a moderator.
thaskalos is free to do as much or as little as feels necessary or has time for.
This includes editing/deleting posts, or just stepping in and telling people to cool it.
I thank him for his help in advance. The pay absolutely sucks around here.

Becoming a PA moderator is kind of like running for U.S. president.
Sometimes the best candidate doesn't actually declare his intention to run until he is "chosen" by his party to be "THEE" candidate.
Dali Lama -- same thing.
Gus, the forum has spoken, You are the chosen one. You don't have a say in the matter. It is your destiny.

I am overwhelmed by the confidence and the support shown to me here...and I promise to do the best job of which I am capable. Please be advised that the Las Vegas lifestyle does not exactly coincide with the extended online participation that the competent moderator's job seems to require...so I might not be as prompt in handling our communication problems here as perhaps I should be. But I will endeavor to spend as much time here as I can...to ensure that our "disagreements" eventually get settled, in the most courteous manner possible.

Affirmative action for liberals?
Jk, Thask, your ability to see both sides of the coin will serve you well. May the wisdom of Zeus guide you!

I think Trump, who basically shapes many minds here anyways, is an honest choice. Let him moderate directly, instead of from behind the lines.
But hey, if Gus wants it, I think that is a more honest and trustworthy choice.

Sorry, Gus.
Some of us have given up on courtesy.
I used to have a sense of humor before child separation became a topic where there were actually two sides to the debate. That was after half this board supported a child molestor for a senate seat and then wanted to pretend it never happened. I made excuses for them then.
But after that, I kinda gave up on discussing reasonable compromises. In the past, I wanted to believe the neo-nazi viewpoint was an outlier here.
I don’t feel that way anymore.
You seem like like a good soul. Best of luck in the new non-paying job.
Trump is a traitor to American values. The same as Joe McCarthy.
There isn’t an actual middle ground anymore.

We supported an alleged child molester (I didn't by the way), and Democrats (including one Hillary Clinton, who called him her MENTOR), supported an ADMITTED KLANSMAN for decades in the Senate.
I guess we're equal.

The Democratic Party was the party of the solid south until Lyndon Johnson made a moral (not political) decision in 1965 to push through the Civil Rights act. With the support of Northern Democrats and nearly all Republicans (exceptions were Barry Goldwater and a few other godfathers of the modern White Nationalist Republican Party).
Johnson, a southerner himself, said at the time "we have lost the South for the next generation". Turns out he was an extreme optimist.
Nowadays, we separate children (who aren't actually American's so no problem) from their parents and joke about snowflakes melting. And point out that Robert Byrd was a Klansman like that makes up for 60 years of Republican resistance to minorities.
Let me be the first to give Gus heartburn. Fuc\k you.
You are the problem. You see yourself as open minded. You aren't. You are a supporter of the worst thing that has ever happened to my country in my lifetime.
Trump is a traitor. And those that support him should hang.
