Trainer gets only 45 day suspension/$500 fine for this?

Penn has had a lot of issues lately involving horses being treated poorly lately. I can't wager at dime at this place.

Totally disgusting, that trainer needs a lifetime ban, reimbursement to the rescue place for $12,000, and after Silent Ruler recovers he should get to drag him for 1 1/16 miles.

What can you say.
Officials need to be compelled to explain the light fine and relatively short suspension.
Else, fire them all, and hire people willing to do the right thing.

And God only knows how many of these cases go unreported all over the country. These poor horses go through so much suffering...just so we could "play a game".

whoever gave out that light sentence needs to go as well. not only is the horse endangered but what about the human that gets on his back?
and what about the bettor that is sitting at home 3000 miles away that has no idea the horse is traveling with a broken leg?

Racing needs to to be federally regulated.
Sounds preposterous, but we just cannot trust those who run the game now to do the right things for the horse of the bettors. This guy should be in prison, not on suspension.
If that kills the game, so be it.
All tracks should be federally certified, similar to the ISO standards.
Fail your audit, close your doors.

PETA should be in their parking lot shutting them down.

Penn. National needs to be put down after something like this.
Nobody in racing can do this except for one group. YOU !!
The customers.
Damn veins popping out of the poor horses leg. This guy needs f'in jail !
This , along with the pics of the fire from California and the story of Mrs. Bellocq, who galloped horses for me when her husband ran my shed when I first started in 1976 are about it.
I can't deal this this crap any more.
I need a break.

The problem with a place like Penn is they DON'T WANT horse racing, so they don't care an might even relish the bad publicity. They'd be more than happy to become a casino only company. They certainly don't care if anyone is betting.

This is why ALL tracks should be banned from ever getting any casino money.
Period.
If you can't make in racing, then shut down and make for those who can.
Penn should be closed AND it's casino shuttered as part of the business.

originally to get the casino license, race track operator's sold the state a bill of goods that they will offer a good racing product that will benefit state breeding programs. instead, they went the other way by letting the standards go down hill and hope that they can get rid of racing all together. when you look at these race tracks like Charlestown, Penn National, Calder Race course, they are all abominable. those places actually scare the customers away from them.

How many times have the Feds been to Penn Nat over the last 6-8 years for something or other? I've lost count.
A cesspool that is an embarassment to racing and racing fans.
