Thanks Churchill
The chances of having a Triple Crown winner this year are slim to none and none is the 1-9 chalk. How does slim win? We will need Nysos to get injured and miss the Preakness otherwise fat chance at anyone beating him in Baltimore. He is by far and away the best three year old after todays races. Fierceness fell apart after being at the lead in 50.3 and 114.1. Sorry, he shouldn't have collapsed with those pedestrian fractions meanwhile Nysos was on cruise control running 15 lengths faster at three quarters.
Now the Baffert haters are going to come on here and blame the owners for not transferring their horses instead of putting the blame where it belongs, Churchill. Talented young horses should NOT be moved from trainer to trainer, it can stunt their development. Churchill is going to keep the Baffert ban forever unless enough top horses miss the Derby like this year.
I wish some multi billionaire owned a track and would put up a 50 million dollar purse and get the 20 best three year olds to run the first Saturday in May and put Churchill on the back burner. Sad we are only at the beginning of February and the best horse can't win the Triple Crown nor is there much hope of having one this year. Kind of takes the fun out of the prep races. There is always next year for those of us who live long enough to see it!

Horse has ran monster figures each time out. Hasn't really even been challenged. On the pace, off the pace, wherever he is he runs lights out.
Without any doubt this is a BC Classic horse for Baffert and it will be interesting the road they map out the next 9 months.
6F, 7F, 8F. Horse keeps wanting more. Wouldn't be surprised if they run him against elders fairly soon.

I thought Baffert the horses were disqualified this year from entering the Derby? Because even if that is the case, Baffert will probably try to grab/rob all the Derby points for his barn out of spite.

Can't grab the Fair Grounds or Turfway ones - they're part of the CDI ban. (Not that he's gone there before, though.)

Call me a Baffert hater, because young horses are dying needlessly in his care. All tracks should ban the --- Fill in the blanks

idk, but i'm sure there is plenty of blame on both sides here. what i do know is that it will be a shame that Nysos won't be running in the Kentucky Derby

What optics does racing send when a trainer is banned from one TC race because he is cheater.....buut, hey, he's OK to run in the other two?
Racing couldn't find it's ass with both hands and a map.

Ooooooo how many times we heard of the next coming of "whomever"...
Champions of yesteryear are long and far tons better than the crap we have
now....
And if we are lucky to see them race past 3 years old will hardly happen...

Very fair point and I totally agree with you on this.
The optics that should be seen is that the individual race track ownerships are each playing their own game, more concerned with self preservation than they are a sport most all profess to love.
The game is actually a singular game being played by individual groups instead of making the sport one face with one objective.
Until that happens which I doubt I will ever see, horse racing will continue to show just what it is.
Real sad because it could be so much more IMO with ALL the participants benefiting including the workers that make the game go.

Now the Preakness is the new Derby and Travers is the new Belmont. It could be as easy as that to solve the problem of spacing the races for modern times.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh, why would you want a Triple Crown winner this year?
Hell, why not run the Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont all at 5 1/2 furlongs and we'll start making T.C. winners a dime a dozen?

Why not Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, and Travers Stakes?
We are talking about the Classic distance races at fantastic venues, with history galore.
We get the 'spacing', and we also get better venues and maybe a proper ending with it being Saratoga.
I don't think there is any argument those are the 3 biggest races in the 3YO season already anyway. Has been for a long while.
