that was a good ride
somewhat bad day for me today. I need for a break-even day
for a slight loss day
if closes wide to win @ 20-1 big loser day
I don't like the 4 one bit, but horseplayers get those weird vibes sometimes. I could see him closing for a small piece or something... just had that 'look' ... whatever that means
Hoping the 1 Vertical Oak suddenly runs back to her potential, or Ward has big speed.
is probably a small underlay, considering he hasn't been in Bafferts high potency care, but has been local lately.
6 should win handily , but it's a horse race

1 ran a brave race, but she had to be hard-urged and go through that stress of moving up the rail to force the issue early. Every right to throw in the towel, but she was brave.
broke on the pace 'in-hand', class disparity was glaring as she shadowed the 1 until naturally moving up to even terms. $3.90 don't seem so bad in retrospect.
was a red-herring in that race. She did ultimately go off 4th choice, but not by a large margin. Don't get me wrong, - if we saw her blasting through a strong work with an insane gallop-out at Santa Anita last week or something, she'd be more of a threat, but I think she'd have been 7-1 for the Terranova name in the PPs.
Treading lightly finale and Del Mar, regroup , back tomorrow with fresh ideas

When you 24-1, don't break that great, your horse is hustled out of the gate, and your wide around the first turn... the result is pretty much a forgone conlcusion

Looking at the history, not sure turf is this one's forte. I didn't even see any kinda turf training at all yet. Maybe they are transitioning / "trying it out"....

I don't want it to sound like I was making excuses. The horse ended up not being a good pick. In its two previous starts it did not break well, and it certainly was not all that sharp today out of the gate, but he did not break bad
When looking at horses trying turf for the first time. I always look at the mothers side first. The horses breeding definitely indicates he could like turf. He showed some speed. At 24-1 I was willing to take a shot, did not pay off

I will put in my virtual stable and keep an eye out on this one. Totally agree it was worth a shot.

Good luck today! But now we have your winners in advance $$.
A.P. Smithwick re-scheduled for Monday due to the heavy rains.
3 off-turf races today = I'll look to see if any dead-turfers take money to bet against.
7th race is a player's race.
Will be watching for value here and there.

race 3
looks really cool and is favored... but she hasn't been on hot paces..
is a better price and she's been vs. heat... Today perhaps she controls?
is being dismissed for her aim to Turf. Does Casse think she 'needs' a race, and Barber is willing to go along and kind of do a workout here?? Or are these guys mildly impressed with her fitness and her little 3F dirt breeze, and feel she'll be just fine 1st time dirt...
Barber don't really bring 'em in needing a ton of work to run into shape
Pace is more of a question to me - whether or not the or someone controls and runs off up front...
are decent enough prices for me

lol Gary Barber isn't bringing in a bunch of projects...
She almost controlled that from gate to wire with unexpected early speed.
Happy because I threw the 2 in there and did a 4 horse box(something I almost never do) because of the 5 taking silly $ and not really being as impressed with the 1 as the crowd

I was really looing forward to the turf racing today. I was intrigued by a few horses in the 4th. But obviously had to adjust my handicapping with the switch.
I landed on the Rag Top. I really would not be suprised if any of these horses won, especially Rudy's other horse.
I like the way this one is bred for water. I get a class drop. I know the horse has not shown much and that is a concern, especially with Bob Baffert as her original trainer. Betting against Brown here is probably bad idea, But I think I will give both Rodriguez horses a chance here
