I have been doing more research on my program than coding as well. Please keep us updated; your HF progress reports are always a great motivator for me. Best of luck.

The programming work that both Handiman and headhawg have done and are currently doing definitely helps my motivation in learning to write code.

Thanks guys!

Having trouble with the Consensus window. All it shows is 1 analyst at a time even though I've added 4 analysts.

Oh well, the Consensus only shows 3 horses anyway. Many races have 4 or 5 horses with high ratings. In general HandiFast seems to be crashing alot for me. I've created an analyst that seems to do well in many kinds of races. It usually includes the favorite but occasionally picks a longshot straight up. May post some selections this weekend.

Hello All,

Is there a good starting point or general consensus of the numbers to plug into the Build Race Window?

Thanks!

I have the book Winning Thoroughbred Strategies by Dick Mitchell. There's a chapter on power ratings and he mentions speed-pace ratings. How is the Mitchell power rating in Handifast calculated? I don't see anything about pace factors in Handifast.

If it's the same code that I wrote for earlier versions of HF then it's a slightly modified version of what's in the WTS book.

The FAST number has a lot of elements and it's been a long time since I have seen the code for that. Perhaps Handiman or mmdorn will reply with an explanation.

Here's some documentation regarding the Handifast factors.

And I highly recommend using Handisearch to illuminate the correct choice of factors and their weights.

I've had a lot of fun with Handifast since I really enjoy methods that are highly customizable and HF certainly fits that description.

Best of luck!
