When in Rome.....

Who needs burgers in Oakland, anyway?
They have some of the best BBQ on the planet.

I'm lucky enough to have family in the area.
We always eat well there when I visit.

I won’t argue your claim suffice to say that most aficionados consider Kansas City and Memphis to be the birthplace and the best place for BBQ.

The Carolinas and Texas make a close 3rd and 4th.

I ordered 30 cases of bone-in catfish this week-

We have sweet potato every day.

* I got an email saying the catfish is out of stock-

I was all set to promote it big time this week.

When you do get bone in catfish, give a heads up. The closest GOOD bone in catfish from us is in henderson. 55 minutes away.

My wife grew up in Marshall, spent every weekend and summer days on Caddo lake. Ate bone in 4x a week. Her favorite by far.

Let me know, we won't even introduce ourselves . It'll be on the way for a shopping trip (woodlands mall for her, golf galaxy for me).

Oakland has been a dump (dangerous too) ever since I can recall. Once, when at GGF (in Richmond California, I had to get off the freeway and could not wait to get OUT of there ASAP and that goes way back to the early 70's

I don't think their could be a rattier neighborhood around a sports venue than the area the Los Angeles Coliseum is in. Went to a trade show at the convention center which is a few miles away, stopping close by for lunch.
Trashy run down area, gang graffiti all over the place, one thing I did notice
almost everybody had high end name brand tennis shoes. I think LA Gear was all the rage back then. All the new tennis shoes on everyone stood out like a sore thumb. Not to be racist, but since it was not long after the Rodney King riots, I think I have an idea where all the new shoes came from.

Those were the days my friend we thought that they would never end. These days steak and eggs or salad with teriyaki chicken strips and occasional top shelf bourbon agrees with me more.
