One theory is that the GOP and apparatus are preparing to jettison Trump quickly. If there are serious issues and it affects multiple cabinet member (read as Pence) the removal has to be done swiftly during lame duck so that Paul Ryan can assume the office and not the incoming Democrat speaker...
I don't know about that but I think its apparent the Turtle is jockeying for position.
I did say the midterms would resume the civil war in within the GOP. I've been welcoming it.

Oh, oh.
‘New indictments coming as soon as today’ in Mueller probe: CBS News
https://www.rawstory.com/2018/11/new...robe-cbs-news/
Special counsel Robert Mueller could issue new indictments as soon as Tuesday in the ongoing probe of the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.
CBS News reports that indictments could be handed up in the sprawling case, which has already resulted in guilty pleas by top officials who worked to elect President Donald Trump
Sources with knowledge of the investigation told the network’s Paul Reid that they expect the indictments this week, possibly right away.
“I’ve spoken with many sources with knowledge of the Special Counsel investigation, and we do expect new indictments to be coming as soon as today,” Reid said.
The president’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, was in Washington, D.C., on Monday to meet with Mueller’s investigators.
Donald Trump Jr.’s friends have said they believe the president’s son will be indicted in the case, and prominent “birther” Jerome Corsi and longtime Republican “dirty trickster” Roger Stone have each said they expected to be indicted.

Just parroting a theory I heard.
I am looking forward to more infighting among the GOP though... I never stopped.
I was pretty convinced my side would lose again but I've become less sure of that the past week or so...

Obstruction of Justice will sink Trump's ship. They know that. The acting AG may be the latest in a long list.

I believe Rudy et al objected to that all along, and Mueller is only getting them on the record to fill in some blanks on collusion.
He already has almost all he needs on both IMO, but to cross all the "T's" and dot all the "I's" in the official report before congress, as much accuracy on multiple lines are needed.
Rudy was a mistake for Trump.

No matter what happens, it was never the wrong horse.
Hillary was the choice of fools.
Still is.
Always will be.
Trump ain't going nowhere.
Got to go through the Senate.
If it does go through the Senate, PENCE.
We got the judges, the tax cuts, the reductions of regulations.
This is why you are such a joke to watch go nuts here.
The game is already won.
We won it.
We got the check.
We cashed it.
It cleared.
No matter what happens, you got nuthin to win.
Your ship may come in, but there is a dock strike.
You are soooooo fun to watch melt down and chest pound like a child. Scooter Libby was a bigger deal.
