Just getting home from Fair Grounds. Great weather, big crowd, excellent racing.

Met up with fellow PA member Woodbinepmi for a few minutes. I think he and his pals hit a nice Pick 3.

I went chasing value in the La Derby and landed on the #10 who just didn't have it late. Very logical exacta though, congrats to those that had it.

After a quick run through of the numbers, this race does not seem like it will get a big Beyer at all.

Looks like the race got a 97, wow.
I stand corrected

Similar fractions through 6F as their sister fillies in race 11 before them.

Yes, they ran 2F shorter, but the fillies finished pretty strong.

Track Phantom really doesn't have an excuse to be backing up out of the Exacta much less Trifecta.

Top 2 came from deadass last and passed everyone in a race that really wasn't that fast. Tuscan Gold ran a bang up race for 3rd. Brown enters him in the Preakness he has my wager.

Sierra Leone looks better coming out of the Risen Star given that 2 closers out of the race (Catching Freedom and Honor Marie) came back to run 1-2 yesterday. He was the best closer in the Risen Star.

Lets see where Sierra Leon finishes next out, but at this point I have my doubts about any horse coming out of Louisiana. Every race looks the same to me. We have Track Phantom setting the pace, and I don't see a fast pace setting the race up for a closer. I see Sierra Leon, Catching Freedom, and Honor Marie pass the entire field in both races without much changing from the rest of the field in the stretch. The Beyer in the Louisiana Derby was decent, but not derby quality. So I guess you could say the 3 closers were impressive because they won against the flow of the race, but at this point I'm not buying it....
