Two things here. Well 3. That prep has done nadda. The counter point is . Japan is on fire. They “stole” Sunday Silence and he loved the derby. Interesting this year.

My strategy is simple this year im holding nice futures tickets on Zandon and Messier so im playing all bombs on top. This is not a great crop. I do like Zandon if he can sit closer which i think he will. But im thinking its a great year for a bomb to fill 2 spots of the tri.

Looks more like "Handily" than a Breeze.

Wowza... 46 & 2 is no joke. Then again, one has to worry that it may have been too much.
If Crown Pride can get in the clear and have a nice stalking trip (a la Sunday Silence in '89), he does have a decent chance. It seems this year there are too many wild cards to figure out.

UAE is a big negative but he has been at CD longer than any of the others I can remember. Plus it’s Japan who is really doing not just well internationally but doing some cool stuff training their horses. He is out there like 40 minutes every day doing figure 8s and galloping, from a horsemanship pov kinda gotta hope he does well.
I spent a little time on the UAE derby and best I can figure is they went very fast early but very slow late, probably exhausted is why he was on wrong lead coming home. Really makes me wonder how Summer is tomorrow influences the derby pace, looks like we have a sprinter in the field.
I’m kinda tied to Zandon at this point so I’ll probably play this Derby a little lighter than normal but I’ll have CP in my exotics and probably something win/show type bet.

before the race is run, this looks like the race is loaded with talent. i got lucky in the 2021 Breeders Cup playing the Japanese horses. i missed the party in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. i really don't think this horse is going to re-write past history and come out of a very weak prep race and beat a great field like this one.
before the draw, i am going to pick 2 horses even though only one can win.. i like EPICENTER and MO DONNIGAL. MO DONNIGAL really impressed me the way he closed on a heavy speed favoring track to win. -that is telling me the horse got more to give. EPICENTER looks like he's got lots more to give. the way he draws is going to be the deal maker or breaker to me.

This seems like a year where the favorite could be close to 5-1 with more than a few others close behind. That's always fun.

Mattress Mack will be wagering $3M on somebody.
His early thoughts are Epicenter, but he also has eyes on Zandon and Taiba I believe.
Some horse will go off at 3/1 or so.
