I think that I was talking about the Speaker to Clocker, so never thought about any illusion of either. My grasp of the American politic is closer to reality than yours, and your constant complaining about policy you can do nothing about.

Wait...WTF...how can this be....

""The average refund check paid out so far has been $1,865, down from $2,035 at the same point in 2018, according to IRS data. Low-income taxpayers often file early to pocket the money as soon as possible. Many taxpayers count on the refunds to make important payments, or spend the money on things like home repairs, a vacation or a car.

The IRS had estimated it would issue about 2.3 percent fewer refunds this year as a result of the changes in the federal tax law, according to Bloomberg. MSNBC reports that 30 million Americans will owe the IRS money this year — 3 million more than before Trump’s tax law.""

Now go ahead...shoot the messenger (me)....and IGNORE the message...whatever...

You're right. The US is going to hell in a hand basket. The economy is in the toilet. Millions more out of work. It's just a disaster out there.

Tax refunds have often been smaller than expected because when the tax rates changed, the IRS changed the way withholding was calculated.

Quote:
The amount withheld from your paycheck is determined by how many allowances you claim on your W-4 tax form. The more allowances you claim, the less money is withheld from your paycheck.

The federal government decides how much an allowance is worth. For the 2018 tax year, the Treasury Department tried to find an allowance value that improved withholding accuracy, so what you pay in taxes from your paycheck over the year is approximately the same as your total tax liability.

Getting a smaller refund doesn't mean you're paying more in total in taxes. In many cases, much of your tax savings showed up in each paycheck, which could result in a smaller refund.

the size of the refund checks going out has nothing to do with the size of the tax cuts as stated above
