Mike,
Keyboard Shortcuts W10
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...oard-shortcuts
Looks to me like F12 (save File as)
Windows Key and E still opens Windows Explorer.

It's called File Explorer now...works pretty much like Windows Explorer to me...I have a shortcut to it on my taskbar, as usual...
As for all the privacy concerns, yes you can turn off telemetry in Win10, but I believe with the home editions, this would necessitate a registry edit.

In this day and age though, everything about you is already out there a million times over, so it's only a matter of time before someone steals your credit card info or whatnot.
That's why I've frozen all of my credit agency files so nobody can open a new line of credit in my name anywhere...hell, nobody can even run a credit check on me...

Thanks PA.
Know it's possible to block incoming IP's via the router, no clue about outgoing.
For 20-years I've been very careful with my ID and what I put on the www.
My crucial access is controlled by clearing all files before and after any access.
Perhaps I'm just lucky (and paranoid) I've never been hacked.
I did receive a junk email recently claiming they installed malware and they provided what they claimed was a password, which in reality was a user name for a website software. Just Spam. Ran the Malware stuff and nothing.
I've Windows Explorer open at all times and not sure what I'd do without it.

And I know the trend is to not worry about privacy -- people post the dumbest s**t about themselves on FB and other places. There are some of us who still would rather keep a lower profile. I don't want some megacorp keeping track of my data if I can help it.

I was wondering about that myself. I like it, and certainly wouldn't pay a cent to make it look like W7. I don't even remember what W7 looked like!

This is what I use. Same as above. But Quickbooks won’t run on it. So I’m shopping still. Been saying that for almost a year now.
I am seriously considering going all Apple....but just can’t bring myself to do it. I do 75% of my work on an iPad. But I have a ton of software that I use on the PC. My version of office is 15 yrs old and works great. It’s all I need.
My scanner is 10 yrs old, works great. I believe Intel has yet to fix the processor problems they had last year. Did everybody forget about that?

I guess you're not concerned with a loss of privacy, and being a commodity for Micro$oft. They've taken the 'P' out of Personal Computer. An attitude like that leads to socialism, then dictatorship, then gulags, and so on. Just be the lemming and go along with the crowd. The stakes are much higher than simply what's good as computer.
My new job has W10 laptops. Good to know I've got that Xbox icon on my "professional" machine. How special is that? With cloud apps now the norm to save $$, corporations and consumers have put far more faith and trust in the hands of "you know who" than I'd ever do...

Welcome to 2018.
Where your TV is listening to every word you say and possibly recording it on the cloud for posterity...most people don't know that some if not many SMART TVs do listen and send what you say to the cloud these days...in addition to other appliances and gadgets that "listen."
I expressed my point earlier on this...the privacy horse left the barn well before Windows 10. You either live in the modern world or you pull a Ted Kaczynski (minus the bombs I hope).
There really is no in-between any longer...your stuff is OUT THERE whether you like it or not, or whether you try like hell to stop it or not.

You will soon be paying for W10 - and once that gets established, you will be paying whatever the Hell they want you to pay. And you will get whatever update they want you to get, no matter how bad it is and how bad it screws up your system.
MS is not about people.
It is about $$$ and nothing else.
I don't really care how good W10 is - XP and Office 97 are fine for me - and I don't need to add a single thing. MS has not made a singe improvement in 20 years that I have any interest in getting.
Other than Snippit - I could use the XP version of that.

You are correct PA.
But all of my stuff is not "out there," and I have no intention of putting it out there either.
These jokers cannot read my mind.
Sometimes, I can't even read it myself.

A Facebook friend of mine, who I think is on here as well, was just mentioning the other day about how he and his wife were talking in their backyard about her workday. She works at a garden center as was telling him about a guy who bought a particular brand of pellet stove.
He goes online and suddenly ads for THAT pellet stove are popping up on Facebook.
As you said, welcome to 2018.

It was their phones.
They don't have anything like Alexa, etc. Didn't think to ask if they had Siri turned on.

Whatever you put out there is out there.
Whatever you don't is not.
Nobody can read your mind (or mine).
They just can't.
