George Gervin - "The Iceman"

.

a look at a back in the day legend - this dude had all kinds of skills - unusual shots and moves that you rarely see

he was a very special player

at 1:31 in the vid he's dazzling in the paint against Kareem and uses him up - that didn't happen too often

he's really a joy to watch

Are you getting wound up for another star in Wembanyama???

Almost every team gets a franchise player every so often....

Except the Knicks....

Last one was Ewing.....hope to get to see another before I die...

But this current owner and management destroys all hopes...

This years team is the same as last because they find a way to F-UP cap space and draft picks almost every year

yes, I love hoops and love watching the great players

but the most fun I have is watching players who are truly dazzling - such as Gervin, Earl Monroe and Dr. J.

this is another one I get a big kick out of - he's not that well known -

Nick "The Quick" Van Exel -

most players when they beat other players off the dribble beat them by a half step or at most by a full step

this dude beats players off the dribble by yards_____________(-:\ - it's pretty astonishing - to me anyway

NBA became a farce when they threw “carrying” out the window to accommodate Alan Iverson and others … watch that highlight reel of Van Exel and count how many times he should’ve been whistled for carrying, you’ll lose count

I saw the headline I thought maybe the ice man passed away, he is alive and 71 years old. I remember thinking the ABA was cool, I even had a red, white and blue ABA basketball as a kid.

I agree with you that he's palming by the old standard
I don't agree that the NBA is a farce
so many fabulous athletes

I believe Van Exel and Iverson would be less impactful if they weren't allowed to palm

but not by a lot

they would still both be great - amazing really

it's not their fault the refs allowed it

.
my issue with the rules is that I believe the rims should now be raised to 11 feet

quite a few 7 foot plus players can dunk without jumping

seems quite ridiculous to me - many players can go about to the top of the backboard

they're bigger, stronger and jump higher

there would still be dunks at 11 feet - and it would still be exciting

Allen Iverson - "The Answer" - on very tough little dude - listed at 6'0" - I think the greatest little man ever to step on to a court

2005 - 30 p.p.g. - 8 assists - 5 rebounds_________unreal

watch him dunk on some players way taller than him

at 1:23 in the vid he fakes the defender out so bad the defender falls down

the #1 move - the last one - at 3:00 - he uses up MJ with a crossover - he beat MJ really bad

They think they're gonna block my finger roll..., but it just keeps going higher... 😎 - Iceman

Nick Van Exel was fun to watch.

another plane that flew below the radar but delivered the goods to the streets and all basketball fans = Rod Strickland.

highlights tend to show scoring = here is a 20 assist game

I wish he wasn't that well known, to me that is. I lived in SoCal and Laker fans crawl out from under rocks when the team is good. You can pretty much judge how good the Laker team is by the number of car antenna flags that are flying. You typing "The quick" just brought back nightmares. I have been a Laker hater since I was 8 years old or so. I was at a shoot around and they ignored me and would not sign my ball. Elvin Hayes ended up coming over to me and signing my ball, I was in San Diego anyway.
I have proudly held a grudge for 54 years and counting.

I was just 9 years old

I traveled by night with a friend to DC from suburban MD by bus - Griffith Stadium - to see the Washington Senators play the Yankees

after the game - it was very late - we waited by the Yankees bus to get Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris's autographs

they just laughed at us and went straight into their bus

we had no way home - too late for the buses

luckily we got a ride home with the team's organist who was a friend of my friend's father

I like to think that if I was a big star I wouldn't be such a jerk
