what do y'all think Rich Strike is going to do?
I am making a separate thread for this because it is an interesting thread on its own. Was the Derby just a pace-aided fluke? Does he run last? Is he the real deal and a strong contender to win next Saturday? Is it somewhere in between? What do y'all think?

He beat 19 other really good horses in the Kentucky Derby. It wasn't a bad time, and he ended up passing 18 of his rivals.
The pace setup was perfect, but he still had to mow them all down.
Mine That Bird and Giacomo were similar winners that came back to prove they weren't a fluke. I fully expect Rich Strike to show well in the Belmont.

When horses make that much of a forward move, they usually back off a bit next time. When you add in the favorable pace scenario that makes it more likely. The one thing that argues for him duplicating that effort is that he was already an improving 3yo.

I like the filly, Nest, if she runs.
I gave somebody $10 to bet on her, but dang if I can remember who.

I see the five weeks as a good sign the trainer knows his horse. I think he'll run well. It would be nice to know if he's gained any weight since the derby.

Maybe she will remind you if you win!

I am enjoying all those that are associated with him. Winning a KD is beyond imaginable for most owners, trainers and jockeys.
I give him a fair 6-1 chance but prefer others.

I expect Rich to run big in the Belmont, he is working great for the race and looks tremendous on the track.
Never sell the Derby winner short.

I'm pretty sure that Giacomo and Mine That Bird never won another race. Orb was another closer that won the Derby and never won another race.
