I love their tactics - it’s competition - trying to win the race.

Sure, would've been a lot better to sit back and let Justify have an easy lead. SMH.

Exactly. They all knew Quip wasn't in it to win it unless Justify threw a clunker, and the pace was reasonable. Good ride. If someone was so creative to have the Justify Good Magic exacta, then sorry on ya for not getting that huge payout.

Yep. Love it. You want to win, beat us. Too many trainers back off in Preakness and don't even run their horses.
Edit: That tactic took this race from meh. Too pretty awesome in my book.

Hope they get a dry track for the Belmont, Justify jumped some tire tracks coming out of the turn but it didn't seem to slow him down any. Smith seemed only concerned with Good Magic as he never seemed to acknowledge Ten Fold or Bravazo on his outside, even seemed to ease up a little at the wire.

no, it's not. this nonsense cost them over 100k. not to mention potentially on the breeding front.

Agreed, they deserve credit. I’m not sure if anyone else had the guts to do it, or if they just couldnt

Get real. You know the difference in breeder fees if you are Preakness winner and not Preakness loser? 100k for that difference is the king of overlays.

Yet Quip was apparently "pointed to this race" for quite a while?
I give GM credit for being ABLE to duel Justify like that, but not sure it was a good strategy to "make into a match race" but then again, what other choice did they have? Unless your horse has a killer closing kick, if you let a horse like Justify get too far ahead you don't catch up......
I guess I have no real opinion either way

Thought Lukas/Contreras/Sporting Chance would be the one showing the most early speed. Have to wonder if Brown's instructions to Ortiz were to send if that one didn't make the front
